Traction sheaves, built for the machine they run on.
A traction sheave is the grooved pulley on the elevator machine that transfers motor torque to the suspension ropes or belts. FUKA manufactures traction sheaves as raw castings, as semi-finished components for local finishing, or as ready-to-install parts with finished rope grooves. Both single replacements and volume production runs are made to the same process, from the drawing or from the existing part.

The sheave is where the load actually meets the machine. Groove profile, hardness and concentricity decide how the ropes wear, how quietly the car runs and how long the installation goes without a service call.
That is why we do not work from a catalogue alone. Send the drawing, the dimensions, a photo or the worn part itself, and the component is produced to match the specifications of your hoistway or system.
Custom and volume production
One part or a volume run. The same route through the shop applies either way, so a single replacement is not treated as an exception.
You choose the stage of finish
Raw material, a machined component, or a complete assembly with grooves and bearing fit, ready to install. You decide where your own work starts and where ours ends.
Original geometry or retrofit
Where an original component is no longer available, the geometry is reconstructed from the existing part or from your documentation.
Machining in house
Turning, milling and grinding run on our own CNC machines in Cologne, which keeps the loop between measurement and correction short.
Answers
Straight answers.
- Can FUKA make a traction sheave without a drawing?
- Yes. If no drawing exists, the geometry can be taken from the worn component or reconstructed from photos and measurements you supply. The result is confirmed with you before production starts.
- Does FUKA supply single traction sheaves?
- Yes. Single replacement sheaves are produced alongside volume production runs, using the same process.
- Can I order a traction sheave as a semi-finished part?
- Yes. Many customers take the component semi-finished and carry out grooving, bearing fitting or assembly in their own shop. That is one of the three stages we supply.
