Capabilities

When off-the-shelf isn't enough.

Beyond manufacturing, FUKA engineers adapt and support elevator components for specific applications and market requirements. That covers application engineering, prototype development, testing support, certification support and the move into volume production, including certification-related engineering where applicable.

Some requirements do not have a part number yet. A code requirement changes, an installation has a constraint nobody planned for, or a customer requires a customization that doesn't exist yet.

That is where the work moves from making a component to developing one, and then getting it into scalable production.

01

Application engineering

The component is designed against the actual application and its constraints, not adapted from the nearest catalogue item.

02

Prototype development

First articles are built and assessed before anything is committed to a production run.

03

Testing and certification support

Testing is supported, and certification-related engineering is provided where the project requires it.

04

Into volume production

Development that stops at the prototype helps nobody. The route into scalable production is part of the work.

Case study

Engineered together.Built to solve a real problem.

The Titan Dual Plunger Retrofit Brake Kit is a strong example of what close international collaboration can achieve.

Developed together with our partners at Hyperion Solutions for the North American elevator market, the system combines application engineering, manufacturing expertise and practical modernization experience.

The result is a retrofit solution designed to bring modern braking safety to legacy elevator machines, while preserving valuable existing equipment.

01Dual-plunger redundancy
Designed to eliminate the single point of failure associated with legacy single-plunger brake configurations.
02Emergency braking
On gearless configurations the kit provides certified ACO and UCM emergency braking.
03Legacy machine retention
Designed to upgrade existing traction equipment instead of unnecessarily replacing an otherwise serviceable machine.
04Engineered retrofit
Application-specific solutions designed around existing equipment and installation requirements.
05Certified solutions
Gearless configurations are tested to ASME A17.1-2022 and CSA B44:22 by TÜV SÜD America.

Answers

Straight answers.

Does FUKA develop components that do not exist yet?
Yes. Application engineering and prototype development for specific requirements are part of the engineered solutions work, followed by the move into volume production.
Can FUKA support certification?
Certification-related engineering is supported where applicable to the project. The certification itself is issued by the responsible body, not by FUKA. For the Titan Dual Plunger Retrofit Brake Kit, selected gearless configurations are TÜV certified.
Is there an example of an engineered solution?
Yes. The Titan Dual Plunger Retrofit Brake Kit, developed with Hyperion Solutions for the North American market, is available for legacy traction machines. On gearless configurations it provides certified ACO and UCM emergency braking, tested to ASME A17.1-2022 and CSA B44:22 by TÜV SÜD America. Elevator World named it 2025 Product of the Year in the Safety Products category.
