Deflector sheaves that keep the rope drop true.

A deflector sheave, also called a diverter, guides the suspension ropes between the traction sheave and the car or counterweight. FUKA manufactures deflector sheaves for replacements, new construction, and modernization projects, as raw castings, semi-finished components or ready-to-install parts.

Deflector sheaves rarely get attention until the rope starts to wear unevenly. Groove geometry and alignment decide how the load is distributed and how quickly the ropes have to be replaced.

We build them to the specifications your installation actually needs, whether that comes from a current drawing or from a component that has been running for decades.

01

New construction and modernization

The same component family serves both. For modernization the geometry is matched to what is already in the shaft.

02

Any stage of finish

Raw casting, semi-finished for your own machining, or fully finished with grooves and bearing fit ready to install.

03

Matched to the traction sheave

Where you order the traction sheave from us as well, groove profile and rope type are matched across both components.

04

Single parts welcome

A single deflector sheave for one installation is a normal order, not a special case.

Answers

Straight answers.

What is the difference between a traction sheave and a deflector sheave?
The traction sheave is mounted to the machine and transfers torque to the ropes. The deflector sheave does not drive the ropes, it redirects them, for example to set the rope drop, the distance between the car-side and counterweight-side ropes at the machine.
Can FUKA match a deflector sheave to an existing installation?
Yes. The geometry can be taken from the existing component, from your drawing or from measurements and photos you supply.
